Enthusiasm - The Light.

I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; 3 and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. 4Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. - Revelation 2:2-5 (NKJV)

“If there’s anything that catches people’s attention and causes them to sit up and take notice of what you’re saying or doing, it’s ENTHUSIASM! The word enthusiasm is derived from two Greek words: ‘En,’ which means IN, and ‘theos,’ which means GOD. So enthusiasm literally means ‘in God,’ or ‘God in us’! - Get excited about GOD!” - Pastor Monetta Cheek

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

What, my friend, I am trying to get across to you is this: unless there is that excitement, that expectant hope continually flowing in you, you aren’t really experiencing the life of God that Jesus has provided by His death, burial, and resurrection.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV)

Notice what verse 2 says. It says that for the JOY that was set before Him. Jesus’ enthusiasm, His passion, His LOVE for us and what He was doing enabled Him to endure the Cross. When you are experiencing true, Scriptural hope, you won’t be disappointed. Why?

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. -Romans 5:5 (NKJV)

Hope does not disappoint BECAUSE the love of God has been poured out in our hearts. By faith, you took part in God’s life-giving wells of love. (Ephesians 2:8) And His love has made us alive!! (John 3:16)

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus - Ephesians 2:4-6 (NKJV)

God’s love has made us alive! Hallelujah! His love and peace endure forever! (Isaiah 54:9-10) Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:8) And so, because God’s love never fails, never gives up, never runs out - our hope, expectancy, doesn’t fail, never gives up, and never runs out! Glory to God! The Lord said to the Ephesian church (in Revelation 2) that they had it all together! But verse 4 tells us that the only thing He had against them was they had left their first love. They had lost their enthusiasm about Him. Not about the church and missions, and all that. But they had left their love with Him. We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

He then, in verse 5, told them to repent. Whaaaat? He meant acknowledge, “Hey Chiefy, something needs to change.” They couldn’t be the effective “superpower” in the church without the passion and hunger for God.

You’ve got 10 seconds to get enthusiastic! Your excitement is the flame that consumes you to where all anyone can see is God! See His love! His power! To where our lives are but a reflection of His blessing, abundance, power, and grace! This is the life Jesus came to give us! (John 10:10) And that’s the light that the darkness cannot comprehend. (John 1:5)

Psalm 119:176 - “God’s Life: The In-Christ Life.”

Psalm 119:176

And should I wander off like a lost sheep—seek me! I’ll recognize the sound of your voice. - Message

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. - John 10:27 (NKJV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. - John 1:1 (NKJV)

The Word is as intimate form of communication with God as prayer. I’m not discrediting prayer, you see, but the Word is the basis for all things. Through it all things were made. The Word reveals God. God is the Word, so God through the Word reveals Himself.

The Bible tells us that Jesus came to reveal the Father. John 1:14 says that Jesus is the Word. In John 17:3 Jesus said that eternal life is to know God. To intimately know Him. Now what about prayer?

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. - John 15:7 (NKJV)

If you are saved, you are a new creature with a recreated spirit made in the image and likeness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:17) “And all things are of God,” (verse 18) We don’t have to talk to God, we get to! God sent Jesus so we could have His kind of life. (John 3:16; John 10:10; Romans 5:12-21) So since we have the Word in us and are born of God, all because of JESUS, we can communicate with God and walk in His fullness, experiencing more and more of the God-kind of life.

Psalm 119:175 - “Peace!!!”

Psalm 119:175

Invigorate my soul so I can praise you well, use your decrees to put iron in my soul. - Message Re:Mix

The Word of God is a written list of what Jesus has accomplished. The Gospel is called the Gospel of peace in Ephesians 6.

and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. - Ephesians 6:15 (NIV)

Jesus is the Prince of Peace. That’s why the angels sang when He was born “Peace on earth and goodwill towards men.” (Luke 2) This means peace from heaven, from God, and goodwill towards men. Let’s look at what God said in Isaiah 54 to close.

“For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord, who has mercy on you. - Isaiah 54:9-10 (NKJV)

For though the mountains should depart and the hills be shaken or removed, yet My love and kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace and completeness be removed, says the Lord, Who has compassion on you. - Isaiah 54:10 (AMP)

The earth would crumble and fall apart a million times before God would ever remove His Covenant of peace and love toward you in Christ Jesus! Hallelujah! You can’t even make God mad! He’s madly in love with you! (Romans 5:5; John 3:14-17; 1 John 4) What can separate us from His love?

That’s right, only one thing, and that one thing is nothing! Glory to God! The Good News that God isn’t mad at you, saved or not, is enough to lead you to Him or empower your walk with Him and bring you closer to Him! Your praise and worship life will grow greatly when you know how much He loves you! (1 John 4:19)

Psalm 119:174 - “The Wait is Over…”

Psalm 119:174

I have longed for Your salvation, O Lord, and Your law is my delight. - AMP

Have you ever thought this question? “Why does it take God until the last minute for Him to heal people?” Because usually that’s when we get out of the way and rely on what Jesus has done! Believing to the believer should be just like breathing. (Romans 1:17) There is patience that goes into some things, but things purchased by redemption are already ours, such as healing, don’t need to be waited for! Why? Because Jesus bought it for us! He secured it for us! Hallelujah!

Two more lessons in the Psalm 119 series… Anyone have any questions?

Psalm 119:173 - “Done Deal!”

Psalm 119:173

Let Your hand become my help, For I have chosen Your precepts. - NKJV

Let’s look at something. First of all, the Word “help” means aid. Secondly, the phrase “Your hand.” Many times in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit is referred to as the Hand of the Lord. When we are flowing with the Holy Spirit, we (possibly) tend to think that it could be something special about us.

For instance, let’s go back to the early days of Pentecost and the Azusa Street Revival of the early 1900’s. This was the first time in a LONG, LONG, LONG time since a large group of people were filled with the Holy Spirit. It was a radical, awesome, powerful move of God’s Spirit. And to this day we are still seeing fruit of it. However, many groups have gotten off track. Missed it by taking their eyes off of Jesus, and onto what they are doing. For SOME reason, SOME believed that the revival was due to their holiness and what they were doing. Wrong! Revival rooted in God’s love and Word - Jesus - lasts. Relying on your own efforts is nothing but works. It’s not grace, it’s works. If it depends on you doing anything, it’s works. If it has to do with what Jesus did, it’s grace!

Don’t get me wrong, there is a response to what Jesus did - called faith - but it doesn’t have to do with what you’ve done. Your love walk, confessed sin, etc. Has absolutely nothing to do with you receiving a miracle and walking in the miraculous. That’s good news! And it will empower you in your battle against sin, or anything!

For the Law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. - John 1:17

The truth is that Jesus has already finished it! He’s already healed you, forgiven you, cleaned you, and delivered you. God through Jesus reconciled man back to Himself. How do we get to take part in it? Why believe God! That’s all! When you believe it, you’ll act on it in faith.

Jesus did the hard part, He did the doin’. You get the blessin’. (Galatians 3:1-14)

Psalm 119:172 - “It’s Done!”

Psalm 119:172

My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness. - NKJV

Your faith is a reflection of your walk with God.

And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive,  recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent. - John 17:3 (AMP)

God wants us to experience His life. Life in it’s fullest measure. That’s why He sent Jesus! He had a loving desire to see you be a champion and reign in life as a king! (John 10:10; Romans 5:17-21) And you know what you have to do to get it?? NOTHING! God did it based on Jesus. He made a covenant with Himself. If God punished you for sin, He’d have to apologize to Jesus! All our sin was poured out on Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21) And now we don’t even have to focus on sin, we can just seek and live out our days with our Lover, Jesus. Walking and talking with Him all day. All the time. Jesus was the Perfect Solution. He healed every minor bruise, paper cut, all the way to terminal cancer, brain tumors, Crohn’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, and the list goes on and on.

What’s our part?

To receive. This was a plan by God, worked and completed in the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. And guess who it is all for?

You.

Jesus did this out of love! So that you can have a relationship with Him. Receiving His blessing has nothing to do with what you do, but just resting in what He did. Jesus completely restored man back to God and now whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved (born again, healed, delivered) His part is finished! Rejoice! And so is yours! Rest!

Dare to believe God.

Psalm 119:171 - “Celebrate!”

Psalm 119:171

My lips shall utter praise, For You teach me Your statutes. - NKJV

The Word of God is every bit worth to celebrate!

“The entrance of thy Word giveth light..” (Psalm 119:130)

The Hebrew word for “light” literally means to set on fire. If you’re on fire, you wanna stay that way! Get the Word in you! (James 1:21)

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; - 1 Peter 2:9

We are the light of the world! A light isn’t a light bulb, it’s a fire! A city on a hill cannot be hidden! A city, a school, a church, a person on fire for God cannot remain silent! Praise God! And as you grow in the Word and become more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, you’ll experience greater revival in your life, and also as a church! Praise God for the Word, praise God for the Holy Ghost, and praise God for JESUS!

You maintain on fire by the Word. But not only the Word, but staying filled with the Spirit also. (Ephesians 5:18) When you keep the Word and the Holy Spirit together, you experience “Zoe” life! The God kind of life! Abundant life! A full and complete life! (John 10:10)

From Ephesians 1:17-23 we see a Holy Spirit inspired prayer. And the first thing the Word says is for believers to have a spirit of wisdom AND revelation in the knowledge of God. You need to use wisdom when it comes to revelation. But this is talking about divine wisdom and divine revelation. Knowledge from God about Himself and what He did in Christ when He raised Him from the dead! Speak out loud this prayer everyday, and you’ll start to see a great increase in your growth!

Knowing the Goodness of our God will make you celebrate, and tell everyone else about it, too! “Taste and see that the Lord is good!”
